Shooting Girl With An Afro Memoir
What does it mean to live honestly from the land in a world that has forgotten where life, and food, actually comes from - and to do it as a black woman?
Hunting. Foraging. Motherhood. Career. All of these things require a level of skill and patience if you’re going to be successful. But for me it was less about having the ‘skills’ and more about feeling at home; out in the field, within the wider community, within my family - and in my own skin. I hope that this book inspires others to find their own pathway into the wilderness and back to a closer relationship with the land and the food they eat.
Whether it’s through hunting, foraging, growing food or just getting out walking, the countryside is for everyone; being out in it is the best way to understand and respect both our land and the people who choose to live in and manage it.
