How do I feel about giving the new Prime Minister my views? Latest Updates

A lot has been happening behind the scenes, some of which I would love to have your thoughts on - so I'll keep it as brief as possible in bringing you all up to speed.

1 - Sporting Equals Ambassador

I recently became an ambassador for a charity that promotes access to underrepresented people to sport and outdoor activities, benefiting their health, mental health and expanding social community attachments. I am so honoured to be working alongside some amazing ambassadors who work tirelessly to help others whilst being pioneers in their field.

My role is to encourage people from different backgrounds to feel like the countryside belongs to them too. Now, don't get me wrong - I don't want to suddenly have thousands of people running a-mock in farmer's fields; we already have some people from urban spaces doing that without respecting the countryside code. What I want is to help people to truly understand the rural way of life and how they can find their own tiny part within it, whether that be bird watching, dog walking, becoming soil experts, hunting and foraging - or simply encouraging them to buy more produce locally.

When people see me, they see someone who doesn't look like what they were expecting, which surprises them, disarms them and then - they listen. And that's when the education can begin.

2 - A speech for the Prime Minister

Yes, you heard right. Little old me will be addressing the new Prime Minister in just a couple of weeks, at a private Westminster event, and I have the wonderful team at The Countryside Alliance to thank for the opportunity.

The aim of my speech (I have to try not to bore everyone for 5 whole minutes), is to highlight the positive aspects about the countryside. For a long time the conversation around the countryside and government policy has been a fraught one - and rightly so in most cases - but I am not the right person to take that fight to parliament.

My focus will be to get him to understand the wider positive impact that better access to the countryside can have on our society as a whole. I also need him to know that people in the fieldsports world look like me now - so there's no need to listen to the rhetoric of some media outlets and organisations who like to base their arguments on the looks, class, background and status of who they believe countryside people are.

3 - Hunting in Hungary

I feel so lucky to be flying to Hungary in a few weeks with the HikMicro team! It will be my first time hunting abroad which of course I am very excited about; but I also get to try brand new products that haven't been released to the market yet, and meet other HikMicro brand ambassadors from around the globe - what a treat!
